Did you know as a parent or carer you could support the careers programme in school?

We offer a range of activities across all year groups which you could be a part of such as career talks, mock interviews, skills workshops – If you think you may be able to contribute to the careers programme please contact Mr Sunley the CEIAG Coordinator at ceiag@qmgs.merciantrust.org.uk

Careers – Subject Links

Within our classrooms QMGS teachers facilitate careers related learning with pupils in a variety of different ways:

  • Inviting external people and guest speakers from Industry, Subject Associations and Higher Education in to support lessons or at subject enhancement events
  • Subject visits
  • Setting work in real life scenarios which expand students’ familiarity with different jobs and roles.
  • Promoting transferable skills such as team working and communication skills
  • Speaking to students about what they want to do when they leave school
  • Asking students to think about what future careers in their subject area might look like

Please use the following links to explore careers linked to the school curriculum.

Links to Employers and Educational Institutions

To support our delivery of careers education we have strong partnerships with a wide range of educational institutions, training providers, apprenticeship providers and employers who contribute to our careers programme through:

  • Raising aspirations and increasing motivation – helping young people identify educational and occupational goals
    ● Demonstrating the relevance of the knowledge and skills learnt in subjects to future opportunities in learning and working
    ● Demonstrating the links between living, learning and earning
    ● Providing work enrichment opportunities including guest speakers and curriculum support

If you would like to get involved and help inspire our pupils please contact Mr Sunley the CEIAG Coordinator at ceiag@qmgs.merciantrust.org.uk for more details of the different opportunities we have available for you to support.
